Wengen

Wengen lies at 1274 m on a sheltered sun terrace at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, 400 m above the Lauterbrunnen valley. Since 1893 access to Wengen has been via the Wengernalp rack-railway (WAB) from Lauterbrunnen.
The pedestrian tourist resort rich in tradition is also the ideal point of departure for winter sport fans and sun-worshipers: quickly and easily guests can reach Männlichen by cable car or Kleine Scheidegg by rack-railway. Beginners can take advantage of the nursery slopes in the village centre, and non skiers can enjoy the footpaths and toboggan runs, the natural and artificial ice-rinks with curling rinks, or just enjoy the views from one of the sun terraces.
Wengen is famous not only for the World Cup Races on the Lauberhorn though – in summer unique events, such as the Mendelssohn Music Week or the Jungfrau Marathon, take place. Unforgettable outings and walks in the UNESCO Natural Heritage Site belong to the programme as much as a game of mini-golf or the heated open-air pool with views of the Jungfrau.
